Bronze brushes are more "bore friendly" than other types. Never use a stainless steel brush on any gun because they can scratch the bore and chamber. The only downside to a bronze brush is ... some solvents such as Sweet's 7.62 contain ammonia for removing jacket fouling. This stuff will eat up a bronze brush if you don't take precautions. All you have to do is rinse the brush in hot water after using solvent and it will last a long time.

Bronze brushes are made with military specification phosphor bronze filament. Larger calibres have oval core wires for strength and durability.
