Starter pistols & Blanks
A starter pistol is one of the most valuable training aids available when introducing a young gundog to sound or maintaining steadiness in an experienced working companion.
The Starter Pistols & Blanks section of our Working Canines department brings together dependable training pistols, blank cartridges and accessories selected for safe, consistent use during structured gundog training.
Used correctly, a starter pistol helps introduce controlled noise, reinforce retrieves and develop confidence without overwhelming the dog. From a puppy's first introduction to sound through to preparing an experienced dog for the shooting season, careful progression is the key to success.
Our range includes reliable starter pistols, quality blank cartridges and associated accessories chosen for their durability, ease of use and dependable performance.
At The Country Sports Store, we believe good training should always be calm, progressive and based on building confidence. A starter pistol should never frighten a dog—it should become another familiar part of a well-planned training programme.

🐕 Trainer's Tip
Never introduce a young dog to loud noise too quickly. Begin at a distance while the dog is fully engaged in retrieving or play, gradually reducing the distance over several sessions. Confidence should always come before volume.
